With the news that England and Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha has allegedly requested to FIFA to change his international allegiance from England to the Ivory Coast, should England fans care? Wasted opportunity or not good enough for us anyway?
This blog is best enjoyed on video, but if you really can’t be arsed then here is the transcript…
Hi guys Ryan here I hope you’re well. Don’t know if you’ve seen it in the news today but Wilfried Zaha the Crystal Palace and England winger has apparently put in a letter to FIFA this week looking to change his international allegiance away from England to the Ivory Coast.
I wondered what you thought about that? Whether you thought he’d be missed or not?
He has played for England, he’s made two appearances as well as 13 under 21 appearances but because his caps were earned in friendlies then that means within FIFA rules he can apply to change his allegiance.
He was actually born in the Ivory Coast and came over here when he was four or something so maybe that’s fine – or do you think the treasonous bastard should be sent to the tower for his crimes?!
It’s interesting because for me he maybe is the sort of player we should be looking to hang on to.
I think he’s exciting, he’s a quick winger he’s someone who looks to take defenders on which personally I love to see. Even if his end product isn’t always the greatest.
What do you think?
Would you have him in the squad ahead of the Andros Townsend’s and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s of this world? I think I might.
Alan Pardew seemed to think that he’s had his head turned by someone in his ear trying to get him to switch over.
I mean he’s not had a call up since November 2012 so I’m not sure how much he’d feature in Gareth Southgate’s plans. But personally I feel that maybe he’s the sort of player that we’d be better off hanging on to than losing given that he offers something a little bit different and is a flair player.
What do you think? I’d love to hear.
So leave a comment in the comments box below and let me know what you think. Should we be hanging on to him or shouldn’t we care?
